Oh sweet summer gathering!

The summer Bergman Gathering was quite an enjoyable time! Although judging Xander's face here you might not think so! I would love to hear whats going on in his head right now!

Here is a series of Avery shots while she's eating watermelon and I just love each of them, so you must bear with me while I share them with you all! I gotta say...this girl cracks me up (and drives me a little nuts!).

guiness world record!

We went out to Winkler this summer to watch 200 combines harvest a field! It is a guiness world record and a pretty cool thing to have seen...especially on such a beautiful summer day!

Xander and Eli decided to relax in a big tire once everything started to die down a bit.
There are ALOT of pictures of these five kids....and there is always one or more of them looking or doing something a little crazy....so I decided to share the one photo where we told them all to make a crazy face because its just the most fun!

Xander and Eli had a front row seat for this combine coming in!

This isn't even half of them!

All dressed up and everywhere to go!

While we missed our window of opportunity to take some more formal shots of everyone all dressed up at the anniversary, we managed to get everyone back into high style again the next day! Not a problem for Avery since she would wear a "princess" dress (or anything, for that matter, as long as you call it a princess something-or-other) any day of the week and actually has worn this one on several regular days of the week for playing in the yard...stomping through mud puddles....going to church! Its her go-to!

I laughed out loud when I saw Xander's face on this one!
One big happy family!
Willow was not pumped about this whole picture taking idea...so this is pretty much the best we were able to get of her...and then there are a lot of Xander and Avery with a different expression in every shot!

Happy 40th Anniversary!

We were out in Toronto for a few weeks this past summer and were able to celebrate Giles' parents 40th anniversary, which was quite fabulous! Its always fun to see the kids all dressed up and clean....for at least an hour or so! Since this happened back in June and I'm FINALLY blogging about it now in October, my memory is a little faint, so I'll just say it was a great evening with good food, family, friends, stories of the decades Dave and Carol spent together and music to go along with that decade. Very well done....and now I'll let the pictures say the rest!

A pretty typical face from Xander....it is very difficult to get him smiling nicely at the camera! It can get a little frustrating....but I think he's genuinely trying to give what he thinks is a good smile for the camera!
Grandpa hanging out with Willow in the corner!

I just really like this picture...even though it makes me want to stand on my head a little bit.

They saw something on the roof of the restaurant and were pointing at it for awhile...not actually sure what it was anymore!

Uncle Justin explaining about the different boats to be seen out there!

40 years! Congratulations! The bar is set, and its set high!

Avery was exploring the podium area and discovered a great place to hide!

We were happy to be able to spend a little more time with Justin's girlfriend, Melanie, while out in Toronto and even made a quick trip down to Montreal to visit them in their new house!

Camping!!!

Last weekend was a fairly momentous occasion for our little Ringer clan! It was the first time since having kids that we went camping! In true fly by the seat of your pants fashion (which we seem to do a lot of) we decided when Giles got home from work that we would actually go. The weather wasn't the best and we really didn't know how sleeping in a tent would go so we had mostly decided not to go. Anyways, we quickly packed (which means we brought way more than we needed because we weren't thinking...only putting everything in the van and going) and off we went to St. Malo! I'll try to keep the shock and surprise out of my voice when I say....it actually went really well....better than I had expected, although my expectations may have been quite low! Either way, we were pleasantly surprised, and encouraged to do it again...maybe for more than one night to make all the packing a little more worth it! Here are a few photos to give you a taste (minus the occasional cries and whines which means this might even make it better than being there at times!) of how it all went down!

Giles rigged up the jolly jumper between two trees for Willow! It worked really well...there was a slight incident in which she did make one fall...but later got right back on the horse and didn't seem to remember anything traumatic had happened!

Avery now makes faces, such as the one above, when I ask her to look at the camera! I think we can thank a Dora the Explorer book for this one!

This is our tent (above) which I thought was pretty massive. The front half is actually a vestibule type area so its really just the last half where we are sleeping, but its nice to have room for all our stuff under cover from the elements (and animals). Then we got to the campsite we were sharing with Greg and Vicki and their kids and our tent was put to shame. Their green wonder tent (below) has room for two single blow up mattresses and one double blow up mattress with room to walk around them in there. This might not be that interesting to some of you...but trust me, this tent is worth talking about!

I love this man...more than the day I married him! (This is our little joke, because we really didn't know each other that well when we got married!) I can tell that he's thinking about how much he loves me too in this picture! I bet you wish you were the one writing blog quotes now, eh Giles!?!

Oh Avery...sometimes I look at her and the quirky things that she does and I really have no words! She makes us laugh the hardest and scream the loudest (in our heads or pillows of course)! This bowl was actually on her head for quite some time.

Of course, Xander's bike had to make an appearance! We went for a walk and while keeping him on the side of the road was not always enjoyable by anyone, he did have a great time letting loose!

Here is Avery...awake and asking to walk!

Here is Avery ten minutes later, fast asleep! A much needed siesta! Don't get me wrong, the night in the tent had gone well....but it certainly didn't reach the amount of time these little bodies are used to at home!

I love this smile!

Giles managed to put the backpack carrier down and she still didn't wake up! Then you know she was tired...in case the whines and cries beforehand hadn't already clued us in!

My girls...fast asleep....for at least five more minutes....and then we were back on the move!

Xander was having such a great time playing with Daniel and Sarah! They were really great about including all the kids in their play! I think they got a little frustrated that Willow wasn't more interactive and welcoming of their attentions, but this will happen soon enough!

Gotta love those eyes...I guess you don't, but you'd be a crazy person then! I might be a touch biased though!

Xander did some experimenting on different sliding techniques! An experiment that has continued on our slide at home and one that he's trying (thankfully with little success) to get Avery to participate in as well!

Thank you Melissa Jede for giving my arms a much appreciated break from Willow. She's light, but gets heavier and heavier the longer you hold her!

I must give a shout out to Mark Jede who attempted to play Monopoly with the four kids! With all the little pieces and things I can't imagine it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience! I actually deliberately moved away from the playing table so as not to involve myself in the chaos! Sorry about that Mark!

Greg was sporting his sweet hat from Mexico...which I must say went really well with his old school five speed bike...not the one pictured behind him of course!

Cal Funk came to our site for periodic visits and was shockingly easy to corrupt!

I love the way Avery moves into a space (once she's comfortable) and owns it! Sometimes she takes a little while to warm up to people or places, but once she does....look out!

Lets just say the ride home was VERY quiet! If you notice the light outside I would estimate that we were in the van by 6:00-6:30 and we left at that slightly awkward time because Giles had taken these two swimming and on the drive from the beach to the campsite Avery had fallen fast asleep. We decided not to wake her and just took off. We gave Xander a hot dog which was still half eaten in his hands when he also fell asleep! My memory is a little fuzzy but i think they slept through till the morning, even without supper!

Sorry this was so long this time....thanks for sticking with it if you've made it to this point!

A look at life!

Life continues....and while nothing BIG has happened, a little of everything continues to happen on a regular basis! Here is a little look at some of our little "everyday" adventures!

Willow is starting to show interest in sitting in the bumbo chair for short periods of time! The other two love this and I think are starting to enjoy Willow as she becomes a little more interactive! She has lots of smiles for them both...even Avery when she's talking LOUDLY in her ear and using her as a pillow! Willow's relaxing attitude is a fairly massive blessing in our house these days!

Try and find Xander in this picture!!! The stuffed animal collection has been growing and growing these days and has become a big part of Xander's night time routine as we usually discover after he's finally asleep. I'm sure its close to an hour of Xander playing and organizing these guys in his room after we leave! Our little house was starting to get a little over-run when they were all over the kitchen/living room floor so today we explained to Xander that he had LOTS and other children didn't have any so maybe we could bring some to MCC for other kids to play with. He did great and we cut the number in half at least...he chose mine and Giles' teddy bears from when we were kids, but we'll get over it and he'll make memories with his own stuffed animals.

On warm days the car wash opens and the water hose is a very entertaining part of the day!

Avery could live outside! She was sick for a couple days last week and still wanted to go outside even though she had no energy to play. I finally lay her down on a blanket and it took about ten seconds for her to fall asleep!

We went up to the cottage with Willow and a few other people from MCI and Giles wanted to get a little raking done and also wanted to give me a break from a baby who didn't want to be put down. This was a solution everyone enjoyed....Willow slept, Giles raked and I probably zoned out for a little bit, I can't quite remember!!!

The water was still FREEZING, but everyone still wanted to try out the sand bar! I think we all made it in a little ways...some further than others!

Avery decided to give Xander a sand bath! A water bath was certainly required that night!

Willow spending a rare few moments outside without being held!!! I'm sure she'll get used to the great outdoors soon...so far it hasn't been her favorite place to be unless she's held!

More fun with sand! Looks like we should start feeding these kids!

If I had to choose a favorite....just kidding...couldn't do it, but its tempting sometimes! Its crazy how life would no longer be life without one of these kids in it. It doesn't matter how frustrating or exhausted a day can be if one of them smiles at me or comes over for a kiss it starts to look up again...even if just for a couple minutes...until the next moment comes along!
